DTI Registration

Fast, reliable business name registration with the Department of Trade and Industry for sole proprietors.

What It Is / Who Needs It

DTI registration is the required first step for anyone starting a business as a sole proprietor in the Philippines It registers your business name through the Business Name Registration System (BNRS) and gives you the legal right to operate under that trade name. If you're forming a partnership, corporation, or One Person Corporation instead, you'd register with the SEC rather than DTI.

Your DTI Certificate is valid for five years from registration, but it only reserves your business name it isn't a permit to operate on its own. Businesses must still register with the BIR within 30 days of receiving their DTI certificate, or risk penalties of ₱5,000–₱20,000 or imprisonment of 6–24 months. Registering correctly and on time from the start keeps every downstream step (BIR, Mayor's Permit) on schedule.
